NOTES FROM THE TABLE

A more flexible stock rule

Here are the details for this mode. The game still uses 104 cards in ten columns. Choose one suit, two suits or four suits using the game controls. Relaxed Spider on xalongli.com permits stock deals while columns are empty. The objective remains eight complete same-suit King-to-Ace runs.

The relaxed difference

The following details apply here. The relaxed stock rule does not change the rank requirement for ordinary moves. A stock card dealt to an empty column becomes that column's first face-up card. The relaxed stock rule does not allow mixed-suit groups to move together. An empty column no longer prevents a stock deal in this variant.

Read the opening

The first four columns have six cards each and the remaining six have five. The opening tableau contains 54 cards. Only the bottom card of each opening column is face up. The stock contains fifty cards for five later deals.

Descending rank placement

The two cards do not need to share a suit for a single-card placement. An Ace cannot receive a lower-ranked card. An exposed card may land on another exposed card exactly one rank higher. A King needs an empty destination because no rank is higher.

Move a group

Here are the details for this mode. A break in rank prevents the entire selected group from moving together. A descending group moves as a unit only when every selected card shares a suit. A suit change can leave a smaller movable group at the bottom of a column. Same-suit building can reduce the work needed to separate mixed sequences later.

Use empty columns thoughtfully

Here are the details for this mode. You may preserve an empty column until you decide to deal from the stock. Empty columns remain useful for separating temporary mixed builds. A new stock row fills every empty column with one card. Any exposed card or legal same-suit group can occupy an empty column.

Bring in another row

Keep these points in mind. Undo restores the previous arrangement when the stock-deal snapshot is available. Dealing can block an existing sequence as well as reveal new combinations. A stock deal places one card onto each of the ten columns. You cannot direct an individual stock card to a chosen destination.

Collect matching runs

Keep these points in mind. A complete run contains thirteen face-up cards in one suit from King to Ace. Eight collected runs are required to finish Relaxed Spider. Changing the number of suits does not change the number of required runs. The game removes a complete run automatically at the bottom of a column.

Practice the variant

The following details apply here. Replay restores the same shuffle for another attempt. Hints identify legal options without guaranteeing a win. Random relaxed deals are not presented as guaranteed solvable. New game creates a fresh shuffle in the selected suit setting.

Resume locally

Keep these points in mind. Privacy & Cookie Settings lets you turn saving off or clear local records. Relaxed Spider keeps its saved games separate from standard Spider when saving is enabled. Each relaxed suit setting has its own current local game. My Statistics displays relaxed starts and wins in separate rows.
